Philanthropy:
In 2010, Mrs. New Jersey 2010 Claire
Pavlinec turned her national sendoff party into a fundraiser for her 501c3
non-profit charity, Maternal Wings, and raised $3000 for the organization
which helps expectant moms in need.
In 2009, Ceylone Boothe-Grooms, Mrs. NJ
2009 held a Charity Cancer Ball. The event raised nearly $4000 and
proceeds from the event were designated to benefit the American Cancer
Society. The Mrs. New Jersey United States
Organization held its second Cabaret for a Cause and also held an Audience
Choice Award contest to benefit the American Heart Association. The
amount raised by the Organization on behalf of the American Heart
Association totaled approximately $2250.
In 2008, Evelyn McCleod, Mrs. NJ 2008
raised and coordinated corporate donations from her company, Church &
Dwight to the tune of $5000 to benefit the National Organization for Youth
Safety, with another $5000 to benefit Elijah's Promise Soup Kitchen, $5000 to the American Heart
Association, and $7000 to the Next Level Youth Organization.
In 2007, the Mrs. New Jersey
United States Organization, in partnership with Project GIVE and dozens of
NJ businesses and private citizens raised nearly $3000 through it's
Cabaret for a Cause to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New
Jersey. Also, under the coordination of Heather Cunningham, Mrs. NJ 2007 and
Mary Moulds, Mrs. Mercer County 2008, The Mrs. New Jersey United States
Organization donated a $200 gift to the Miss Salem County/Miss
Heartland Scholarship Organization (a preliminary of the Miss New Jersey
Education Foundation and the Miss America Scholarship Organization).
In 2006, The Mrs. New Jersey United States Organization donated $100 to the
Women's Heart Foundation of New Jersey, in the name of 2006 Triumph
Award Winner, Cynthia Stephans, Mrs. Cherry Hill Township.
In 2005, The Mrs. New Jersey United
States Organization co-sponsored an essay contest with the Medford Police
Department,
where Medford Memorial Middle School students could write a 250 essay about "Making Positive
Choices." Two winners were selected, and each winner received a $250
savings bond.
